Lake Lowndes State Park

Lake Lowndes State Park is a park located near Columbus, Mississippi. This park is situated on a 150 acre lake and is within close proximity of both the Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi State University. This park is open all year.

Geography

This park offers access to Lowndes Lake as well as surrounding forest areas. Scenic areas are available by foot and vehicle.

Camping

Lake Lowndes State Park offers an area for tents and RV camping with access to sewer, electricity and water. There are 50 camping spots available around the perimeter of the lake, furnished with a picnic table and outdoor grill. Hot showers, washers, dryers and access to potable water are all found in close proximity to the camping areas. These camping areas are in high demand, and reserving space ahead of time is recommended. Aside from tent and TV camping facilities, six cabins are available within the park, offering lodging for six people each. These cabins provide running water and a variety of modern appliances and amenities. A 75-person lodge is available at the central visitor's complex of the camp.

Activities

A variety of trails are available around the lake and are accessible on foot, by vehicle or on horseback, while a marina allows for boat launching onto Lowndes Lake. A game room and activities complex provide access to tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as pool and ping pong tables. An amphitheater is available nearby for hosting theatrical events or concerts, and picnic areas for individuals, families and groups are numerous and located within a short distance of the main camping area.

Lake Lowndes State Park offers a number of exciting activities for the whole family and is open all year around. From fishing to sports, all the activities you are looking for are located close to the camping area and the beautiful lake.
