Natchez State Park

Situated near one of the oldest and most historic settlements in Mississippi, Natchez State Park offers natural beauty and a broad range of activities sure to satisfy a variety of adventure seekers.

Welcome to Natchez

The park is located just 10 miles south of Natchez, which is the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River. Before the Civil War it was said that over half of the millionaires in the United States lived in Natchez, building some of the largest and most elegant mansions in the nation. Many of these marvelous homes survived the Civil War, still stand today and are available to the public for tours.

Famous fishing

The largest bass ever caught in Mississippi history was caught in Natchez Lake in 1992, weighing in at an enormous 18.15 pounds. Needless to say, fishing is one of the most popular reasons for a visit to the park and a convenient boat launch ramp makes it easy. Fishing at the lake is a relaxing, fun way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

Park amenities

Additional park facilities include a bath house with hot showers, a comfort station and ample parking. Visitors may choose to visit a variety of historic sites, spend the day hiking or simply relax on the lake and angle for fish. Fifty camping sites with picnic tables and barbecue grills are available for recreational vehicle or tent use and include electricity and water hook-ups. If a tent among the trees is more your style, then eight sites are available nearby in a wooded area. Lakeside rental cabins feature beds, bed linens and basic kitchens. For day use, a shaded area features picnic pavilions and tables, a playground and a nine-hole disc golf course.

If unparalleled beauty and epic fishing are on your destination wish list, then look no further than Natchez State Park. Whether you stay for a day or settle in for a longer visit, you are sure to have a memorable experience.
