Roosevelt State Park is located between Jackson and Meridian, Mississippi just off I-20. The park, which adjoins the Bienville National Forest, offers many amenities and activities. Read on to discover the many attractions of Roosevelt State Park.

Lodging

A 20 room motel is on the park grounds, equipped with standard hotel amenities. The park offers 109 RV campsites, of which 82 have full utility hookups and 27 have electricity and water. Fifteen cabins, equipped with heating, air conditioning and standard amenities are located near Shadow Lake. Eight additional cabins are equipped for group camping, with dormitory-style furnishings and dining halls. Primitive tent camping is also available at Shadow Lake, although a full bathhouse with showers is nearby.

Activities

The lakes within Roosevelt State Park offer a venue for water sports and activities. Water skiing, boating and fishing are all available in designated areas of Shadow Lake. Four nature trails for hiking wind through the park, offering a view of local plant life. The visitor's center is equipped for large gatherings, including catering, and houses a video game room and gift shop.

Facilities

The park has picnic areas and a pavilion, in addition to the campgrounds, for day use. A children's playground, softball field and two tennis courts are available for visitor use. A swimming pool with a large water slide is open during most summer days; check with the park for availability. A fee is charged for use of the swimming pool.

Roosevelt State Park is a large state park with many developed facilities, as well as extensive unspoiled natural areas. The park is conveniently located for travelers on I-20 and is well worth a visit, whether for a day or a longer stay.
